Easy to get in and out of even at night. If you're wanting to avoid Nashville this is a good place to stop. Fall and winter 2017 and 18 were undergoing rebuilds in two out of the three campgrounds. If you pull in late you have to wait till the office opens at 8 in the morning. Might as well fix coffee and have breakfast before you take off. I highly recommend us route 231 as an alternate route. The small towns do not slow you down much. Tennessee honors a senior discount of 25% much of the offseason and 50% in December January and February. You may want to double check that
This is such a fantastic park. Nature trails, horse riding, camping. Then you have sports fields, cabins, lodges, a pool... there is great opportunity to watch wildlife and they habe great events. Also, frisbee golf course. And caves.
Absolutely love this state park. Giod camping. There's a little store you can just buy all your firewood from. Note to self next time bring a can opener to get those beans open. It has a nice little park and several walking and running trails. Also has a cave trail. Such beauty in nature and lots of shade from trees. They have a pool in case you like to make a splash and have disk golf because well who doesn't like to throw Frisbees into baskets competitively. Great place to take the family. They even have events on certain days. I have been going there since I was 7 and now I'm 24. Great campground. They have a fire ring and picnic table at every site.
Beautiful park! Staff was super helpful with trail suggestions for us since we had our 7 year olds (basically, stay on the trail and you should be fine). Hope to return soon and camp!
Located southeast of Nashville, Tennessee, this is the park we stayed in for several days over the Solar Eclipse weekend. The park is well-maintained and has a lot of things to offer visitors even when the sun isn’t playing hide and seek with the moon. Biking and hiking are available here, as well as a large playground area for kids, a giant swimming pool, a small nature center with some local critters and a giant cave. Be warned that if you want to go into the cave, you need to dress appropriately for muddy and, if you go in far enough, possible waist-high water conditions. Also, as you can imagine, it gets very dark, very fast inside there so bring plenty of adequate lighting. The 2-mile Cedar Loop trail offers some relatively easy hiking with nice surroundings to enjoy.
